The Kingsport Spring Spectacular Photography Exhibition will run through July 7. The exhibit will be at the Kingsport Art Guild Main Gallery and the Atrium Gallery located inside the Kingsport Renaissance Center and will be open during regular business hours.Â
Birding
The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, will offer a monthly Birding in the Gap series on the second Saturday of each month. Participants should meet at the front gate of the museum. The Birding in the Gap monthly series will be held rain or shine. Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable walking shoes. Binoculars are encouraged but not required. Registration is not required for this program. Downtown ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµâ€™s Fridays After 5 (FA5) summer concerts are free and open to all ages. This concerts are held in King Commons, 112 N. The Kingsport Public Library has announced the return of the Friday Lunchtime Live concerts. Due to the relocation of the library to the Fort Henry Mall, the Lunchtime Live concerts will be held at the Kingsport Farmers Market (308 Clinchfield St.) this year. The concerts are free and open to the public. Simply bring a chair or blanket and enjoy lunch while listening to local musicians. “Beyond the Sun” is now showing in the Bays Mountain Park Planetarium Theater through Aug. 31. The 35-minute program is being shown Tuesday through Friday at 4 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays at noon and 4 p.m. "Beyond the Sun" is a wonderful, animated program for the whole family, telling the story of one girl’s search for exoplanets. Just in time for the Fourth of July, all-American folk singer and storyteller Sam Payne will host a spirited series of live performances at the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough. Payne’s matinee concerts will feature stories and songs related to the U.S.’s 250th birthday, as well as personal stories intertwined with history and culture. The Riverview Splash Pad, located at 1101 Martin Luther Jr. Drive in Kingsport, is open for the summer season and will remain open until the end of September. The splash pad will be active from 10:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. every day during the summer through Labor Day. The splash pad can be turned on during these hours by rubbing the silver activator pad located on the wall between the restrooms. Picnic shelters adjacent to the splash pad can be reserved. A Dinner on the Diner event will be held July 11 and 12 in Jonesborough. Proceeds from ticket sales will help fund the restoration program of Watauga Valley’s historic rail passenger cars and to fund new exhibits and educational experiences at the Chuckey Depot Museum.
