The Sullivan County Public Library has five locations to serve the community.
LIBRARY NEWS
Get ready! September is Library Card Sign-up Month! If you know someone who doesn’t have a library card in Sullivan County, encourage them to get one to not only access a large variety of books but also STEM kits, video games, DVDs, streaming movies and more!
All branches will close early on Wednesday for staff development. Sullivan Gardens is closed on Wednesdays, Blountville will close at 4 p.m., and Colonial Heights, Bloomingdale and Thomas Memorial will close at 3:30 p.m.
FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS
Our Preschool Storytime is great for kids ages 2-5 years old. This week’s theme will be “Sharks!†Monday: Sullivan Gardens at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday: Thomas Memorial (Bluff City) at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday: Bloomingdale at 10:30 a.m. Thursday: Colonial Heights at 9:30 a.m. Friday: Blountville at 10:30 a.m.
Monday at 10 a.m. — Sing and Play Storytime at the Blountville branch. For infants through age 2 and their grown-ups.
Monday at 4:30 p.m. — Teen/Tween D&D Game at the Blountville branch. Dungeons and Dragons game held monthly. Join any time. Registration is not required.
Tuesday at 4 p.m. — Magic Tree House Book Club begins at the Thomas Memorial branch. We’ll start with “Dinosaurs Before Dawn.†No RSVP required.
Thursday at 3:30 p.m. — Kids Chess Club at the Bloomingdale library. Join us for some instruction and then game play. For elementary and middle school age kids. No reservations required.
Thursday at 4 p.m. — Read to Therapy Dog Annie at the Blountville branch. To schedule your child’s 15-minute appointment to read to Annie, please call the Blountville branch at 423-279-2714.
Friday at 1 p.m. — Magic Treehouse Book Club with Ms. Nancy at the Blountville branch. We will read “Knight at Dawn.†No RSVP required.
Friday at 2 p.m. — Kids Classics Book Club with Ms. Nancy at the Blountville branch. We’ll be reading “Black Beauty†by Anna Sewell. Recommended for upper elementary ages and middle school. No RSVP required.
Friday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. — Homeschool Extra Credit: Build A Tree at the Blountville branch. Registration required by Sept. 5.
Saturday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. — The Boardroom: Teen Board Game Exploration at the Blountville branch. For ages 13-17. No registration required.
Saturday, Sept. 13, at 10:30 a.m. — Wingfeather Wanderers Tween Book Club at the Bloomingdale library. For ages 11-14. RSVP in person, by phone or on our online calendar.
FOR ALL AGES
Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. — Our Final Garden Club with Tyler for the year at the Blountville branch. Open to growing enthusiasts of all ages. No registration required.
Saturday, Aug. 30, at 10:30 a.m. — Community Garden Day at the Sullivan Gardens branch. Bring your green thumb and help us plant beautiful bushes and plants in our front garden bed! Don’t have a green thumb? Stop inside and paint a garden sign to help us beautify the space! No RSVP required.
Saturday, Aug. 30, at 1 p.m. — All ages Instrument Exploration at the Thomas Memorial branch. Come and learn about different types of instruments brought by members of the community. No RSVP required.

Geri-Fit is offered at the Blountville branch on Mondays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 10 a.m. at the Thomas Memorial branch.
Chair Yoga is offered at Colonial Heights on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 a.m. and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. at the Bluff City, Thomas Memorial branch. Blountville offers Chair Yoga at 3:30 p.m. on Mondays.
Monday at 5:30 p.m. — Book Club at Colonial Heights. This month’s book is “The Personal Librarian†by Marie Benedict.
Monday at 5:30 p.m. — After-Hours Mystery Book Club at the Sullivan Gardens branch. We will be discussing “We Begin at the End†by Chris Whitaker. No RSVP required.
Tuesday at 6 p.m. — Zumba! at the Blountville branch. You can also Zumba on Zoom! Just call by the Monday before class to receive a Zoom link.
Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. at the Blountville branch. Knit and Crochet Group. All skill levels are welcome. For adults only.
Thursday at 6 p.m. — Under the Covers Romance Book Club at the Blountville branch. Bring a snack to share and get ready to dish. Our August book is “The Cinnamon Bun Book Store†by Laurie Gilmore.
