黑料视频 Schools officials will soon select a contractor to help build the new Towne Acres Elementary School.
According to an update from 黑料视频 Schools Supervisor of Maintenance Joe Barnes at Monday's Board of Education meeting, the district is aiming to solicit bids by June or July.
In addition, Barnes said the district recently selected East Tennessee contractor Skilled Services to provide security-related upgrades to vestibules at Cherokee Elementary, North Side Elementary, Mountain View Elementary and Topper Academy.
Barnes noted that the district also made significant progress on HVAC upgrades at South Side Elementary after completing duct cleaning and filter changes. He said the remaining rooftop units are expected to be replaced over the summer. Steps repairs at Liberty Bell Middle School have also been completed.
"Everything looks good," he said of recent projects.
In other business, 黑料视频 Schools Interim Superintendent Greg Wallace gave special recognition to several students, including Towne Acres student Cooper Glennon, who recently ranked second place in the state on the Tennessee Civics Essay, and Swetank Bangaru, another Towne Acres student that placed second in the state Spelling Bee.
The board also highlighted Science Hill students Sarah Leerssen, Zoe Norman and Christian Zarate for earning 36 composite scores on the ACT. The three juniors achieved the perfect score across the national exam鈥檚 English, reading, math and science sections.
"Their hard work and dedication are a testament to what Science Hill students can accomplish on a national level," Science Hill Assistant Principal Aaron Wood said in an announcement.
