JONESBOROUGH — A man accused of shooting and injuring a ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµ police officer posted bond and was released from jail Tuesday.
Timothy D. Blair posted his $250,000 bond and was released from the Washington County Detention Center in Jonesborough, court records show.
On March 12, a ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµ Police Department officer was shot in the line of duty.
According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµ Police Department officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Woodlawn Drive. While on that call, according to the TBI, officers had a brief encounter with a resident in the 400 block of South Barton Street who had exited his home. The man subsequently went back inside his house.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m., a gunshot was fired from the direction of the South Barton Street house, striking the officer, according to the TBI.
Blair, charged with attempted first-degree murder, was arrested after the TBI determined through an investigation that he was the person responsible for shooting and injuring the officer.
Blair has a prior criminal history, with charges ranging from public intoxication to aggravated assault.
In 2017, Blair was charged with an open container law violation and felony vandalism.
In 2018, he pleaded guilty to public intoxication. One month later, he was charged with driving under the influence. Just five days after that, he was charged with violation of implied consent law.
He was charged with violation of probation in April 2020. In July of that same year, he was arrested by ºÚÁÏÊÓÆµ police for driving under the influence. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
In November 2023, Blair pleaded guilty to a vandalism misdemeanor.
Last November, he was charged with aggravated assault and violation of probation.
Blair appeared in Washington County Sessions Court March 14 for an arraignment hearing.
Prosecutors have filed a motion to revoke Blair's bond. This motion is scheduled to be heard March 27.
The officer that was shot and injured was recently discharged from the hospital.
