Sentimental Journey, owned and operated by Cam McAllister, opened its doors to the community on Jan. 25, 2025 in the previous ETSU Physicians & Associates building. Since the business鈥檚 official launch, 136 merchants share the three-story space, offering a variety of antiques and goods to the community.

Sentimental Journey鈥檚 adventure to opening in 黑料视频 stemmed from McAllister鈥檚 family and the experience with selling antiques in their store. It was from his grandmother鈥檚 antique store he adopted the name Sentimental Journey, mixing his love for the business with the personal flare of familial ties.

鈥淚鈥檓 originally from upstate New York, but I spent my teenage years living in Wilmington, N.C., and I moved here three years ago,鈥� McAllister said. 鈥淎ntiques have always been something that has been in the family, so why not bring something to downtown that is unique, and something that鈥檚 a dying breed? Something that鈥檚 unique to everybody and has something for everybody.鈥�

Sentimental Journey brings a variety of items for any customer to enjoy. With a large number of local merchants, the selection of objects spans from clothing and jewelry, to home decor, assorted glassware and furniture.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an array of eclectic treasures鈥搃t鈥檚 really something for everybody,鈥� said McAllister. 鈥�...It鈥檚 collectibles, home decor, antiques, furniture鈥搃t鈥檚 just full of treasures.鈥�

McAllister鈥檚 aspirations for Sentimental Journey branch from the collaboration housed inside of the business. He explained the support from Sentimental Journey to other small businesses is vital to creating an environment that鈥檚 built on strong relationships between business owners in the downtown area.

鈥淭here鈥檚 so many opportunities in this business to really just get out there into the community,鈥� said McAllister. 鈥淭hat was me and my husband鈥檚 main goal, was to get involved and to make an impact, and I really think that us bringing Sentimental Journey to downtown has not only been good for us and our families and our merchants, but to our downtown neighbors as well鈥et鈥檚 work together, let鈥檚 make a bag together, let鈥檚 change downtown together.鈥�

McAllister added since the doors opened, business turnout has been 鈥渋ncredible,鈥� saying he wasn鈥檛 expecting for the business to be as popular as it is so soon after opening. Sentimental Journey has also been a testament to changing peoples鈥� lives, according to McAllister, with the business pushing a 鈥渕erchant first鈥� agenda.

The influence Sentimental Journey has on people and their businesses has made the antique store be on the receiving end of gratitude from those it supports.

鈥淲e get told regularly, 鈥楾hank you for being here, thank you for coming down here, thank you for being the light to make Main Street shine a little brighter,鈥欌�� McAllister said. 鈥淢ain Street America everywhere, it鈥檚 definitely supposed to be thriving. It鈥檚 supposed to be clean, it鈥檚 supposed to be a thriving, downtown environment, and I think lighting up this section here has really made a big difference. We really just lit it up, and we鈥檙e not done yet.鈥�

There鈥檚 also an interest for Sentimental Journey to collaborate with organizations and aid in fostering partnerships to help bring more growth in 黑料视频鈥檚 downtown region, with McAllister saying he wants to start a scholarship fund, do more with the Humane Society and Boys & Girls Club and participate in events such as Sip鈥檔 Shop to 鈥済et more people to downtown.鈥�

McAllister also said Sentimental Journey鈥檚 impression on downtown 黑料视频 will broaden into something more. His intentions are to expand into other empty buildings in downtown, claiming that 黑料视频 is where he plans to keep his business.

鈥満诹鲜悠� has my heart鈥搕his is where my husband鈥檚 from, so he brought me here and I knew in my heart and in my soul that this is where I wanted to be,鈥� said McAllister. 鈥�...There鈥檚 just so much more here, and like I said, 黑料视频 will always have my heart, so I think it鈥檚 best to just keep my business in the downtown area. Whether it be antiques or something else, we are going to expand. We are going to continue to occupy these empty buildings and fill it with something for everybody.鈥�

With Sentimental Journey deepening community connections, McAllister said the store鈥檚 unique qualities boil down to its ability to 鈥渇lip the block鈥� with the inclusivity for every customer that walks through the door and every business that wants to get involved.

鈥淚t brings a light to downtown,鈥� McAllister said. 鈥淲e lit up these walkways, we lit up the building itself, we turned dirt into diamonds, I guess you could say. To have a place down here that has something for everybody in a city that has something for everybody, we鈥檙e just really grateful to be that light鈥o, let鈥檚 light it up. Let鈥檚 light up Main Street. Let鈥檚 really flip the block.鈥�
