The Moon Coffee and Tea House is moving鈥搄ust four doors down.
Currently residing at 325 E Main St., The Moon is making its next step for its business by moving to a bigger location. Brett Dial, owner of the coffee and tea house, said the building The Moon is going to is the old Hands On! Discovery Museum location, which is currently being renovated by Mitch Cox Companies.

鈥淭hey鈥檙e turning the Hands On! Museum into three separate storefronts,鈥 Dial said.
Dial said the plans for moving his coffee and tea shop started a few months ago after Mitch Cox Companies approached him about the renovations being completed at the museum. He was offered to be the first new tenant in the building after the construction is complete.
鈥淭hey kind of did a custom blueprint for us,鈥 said Dial. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e doing a buildout specifically for The Moon Coffee and Tea House, which is amazing.鈥

Dial added a major reason for committing to the move comes from the current lack of space for customers to enjoy at the original location. With limited seating areas and a small kitchen space, the building renovation at Hands On! gives The Moon nearly two-and-a-half times the capacity for its customers and employees to work in.
鈥淲e have a really small space right now鈥搘e only have seven tables, and we only have about 20 seats in here,鈥 he said, motioning to the restaurant鈥檚 interior. 鈥淲e鈥檝e gotten busier. We鈥檝e been open for two years and almost four months鈥t doesn鈥檛 take a lot to fill this place up, because there鈥檚 only seven tables.鈥
The growth of The Moon has come from the steady increase of customers, which Dial said has shifted into many of them becoming regulars. This influx of community members is considered 鈥渁 blessing鈥 by Dial, and their support of his business helped aid the decision to move to a bigger space for each customer to enjoy.
鈥淭he store we鈥檙e in right now has been absolutely perfect for a really small business, and it feels like it鈥檚 kind of the perfect time for us to have more space,鈥 Dial said. 鈥淓verything here feels really small, so to be able to have an opportunity to move somewhere where we can accommodate more guests鈥揳nd also we鈥檒l have more opportunity to do more things, whether it鈥檚 events or serving more food, or offering different types of drinks鈥e鈥檒l have more opportunity because it鈥檚 a much bigger bar.鈥

One thing Dial said he believes The Moon will have through these opportunities is a broader customer base while still keeping the aspects of the coffee house the same. His intentions are to maintain what makes The Moon special to its customers while enjoying the advantages of a bigger seating area and more chances for community connection.
鈥淲e鈥檙e trying hard to open up a new space that keeps a lot of the same characteristics as our current space,鈥 Dial said. 鈥淲e really just need more seating. In that way, it can help the business grow because we won鈥檛 have to let anybody down that wanted to grab a seat and was unable to. God-willing, we鈥檒l see an increase of some new customers that don鈥檛 know about our business yet.鈥
Dial added his hopes for The Moon鈥檚 new space is to see the same love from the community that the original location has received, praising the support of every individual that has shown support to his small business.
鈥淲e鈥檙e super grateful for every person that鈥檚 ever walked in the door,鈥 he said.
Dial said he plans for The Moon to be opened at the new location in September or October, at the latest. In the meantime, he remains excited for the possibilities the larger location will offer and maintaining the original vision for his coffee shop: offering quality coffee and tea with a fun, relaxed and personable environment.

鈥淚 wanted to offer a place that didn鈥檛 necessarily feel like a library鈥揑 wanted it to be a fun environment where you can talk to people and feel like you can go in there and laugh, and you wouldn鈥檛 necessarily be distracting anybody,鈥 Dial said. 鈥淚 wanted a really fun and friendly atmosphere going in鈥 am most excited about this place because I have a better vision of what I actually want the shop to look like.鈥
