KINGSPORT — A Kingsport doctor has had her medical license permanently revoked after being convicted in federal court on charges related to controlled substances, according to the Tennessee Department of Health’s May 2025 disciplinary action report.
Dr. Leigh Anne Young Dunlap was charged in September 2024 in the Eastern District of Tennessee. The case was closed in March, with the state noting the conviction involved Phentermine, a schedule IV controlled substance under both federal and Tennessee law.
In September 2023, Dunlap was cited by the Tennessee Department of Health for “unprofessional, dishonorable, or unethical conduct†and for failing to develop required clinical supervision protocols.
At that time, the board placed her license on a two-year probationary period—effective upon reinstatement—and prohibited her from prescribing opioids, supervising mid-level providers for prescribing purposes, or acting as a medical director for any pain or weight loss clinics during that time.
She was also required to complete continuing education in medical ethics and prescribing controlled substances.
Dr. Dunlap’s license, previously listed as expired, is now officially revoked, according to the board’s May 2025 report.
