According to a news release, Daquion Carter, 31, of Rogersville is charged with first degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm, and he is being held in the Hawkins County Jail.

This is in connection to the earlier reported homicide of 22-year-old Shamond Harris in Church Hill.

No additional suspects are being searched for, according to the release.

During the investigation, authorities searched Cradic Road in Surgoinsville. Detective Brian Boggs and K-9 Deputy Xeno found a firearm in a wooded area, and it is believed to be the murder weapon.

The investigation spanned across three counties, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation assisted.
