“We really don’t think it will take very long, probably a couple of weeks,� said Chris Cole, Warriors' Path State Park Manager.

The pool has not been used since 2019, and officially closed in 2021, according to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation website. 

A pool officially opened at the park in May 1957, and a newer pool was constructed in 1978. There was a water slide operated at the park from 1979 to around 1998, Times News records show. 

A playscape will be built in place of the pool, Cole said, but he was not sure where in the park it would be located.

“It’s sort of like a playground, but it’s more educational based,� Cole said.

It will include nature education and an amphitheater for Ranger Marty Silver to do programs in. Funding is secured, but Cole is unsure when the project will start.
