KINGSPORT — The city of Kingsport is looking for volunteers to serve on five advisory boards and commissions.
Vacancies are available on the Cultural Arts Commission, Kingsport Public Library Commission, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, PETWORKS Board of Directors and the Tree Advisory Board, a news release stated.
Below is a breakdown of the different boards, their roles in the city and when they meet.
The Cultural Arts Commission advises the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on public art policies and guidelines. Members serve three-year terms and meet at City Hall every other month.
The Library Commission helps oversee the Kingsport Public Library, assists with the budget, promotes library services and accepts grants or donations. Members serve three-year terms and meet periodically throughout the year.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee studies community needs, recommends programs and improvements and meets at least 10 times a year. Terms last three years.
The PETWORKS Board of Directors provides input on shelter operations and meets at noon on the fourth Thursday of each month at City Hall.
The Tree Advisory Board focuses on planting and tree care on city property. Members serve two-year terms and meet every other month at the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce.
Residents interested in applying can complete a short questionnaire at . Applicants will be asked why they want to volunteer, what previous experience they have, and which boards or commissions interest them.
