KINGSPORT — A police pursuit in the early hours of Friday led to the arrest of a man and woman in Kingsport.
Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office deputies were notified of the active vehicle pursuit around 1 a.m. by the Bristol Virginia Police Department, according to a recent release.
SCSO deputies encountered the vehicle at the off-ramp from I-81 to Highway 391 in Blountville. The pursuit continued on Highway 11W toward Kingsport and ended when the red Chevrolet Malibu wrecked in the 700 block of West Stone Drive.
Adam Green, 37 years old, was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Ashtyn Mark, 36 years old, was described in the release as the passenger. Both Mark and Green are from Bristol, Virginia, the release states.
Drug paraphernalia, a crystal-like substance, a powder substance believed to be fentanyl, five cell phones, 17 debit/credit cards not associated with either arrestee, multiple plastic baggies, marijuana and a large amount of pills believed to be Xanax were found in the vehicle, per the release.
Green was charged with manufacture/delivery/sale/possession of Schedule II and II controlled substances; evading arrest; five county of failure to yield right of way; speeding; failure to maintain a single lane of traffic; five counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon; drug paraphernalia; Schedule II, III, and IV drug violations; tampering with evidence; cruelty to animals and driving while a licence is cancelled, suspended or revoked.
According to the release, Mark was charged with violation of probation; Schedule II drug violations; drug paraphernalia and selling, bartering or obtaining legend drugs.
Both Green and Mark are being held in the Sullivan County Jail with $50,000 bonds, respectively. A dog found in the front seat of the wrecked vehicle was taken by animal control to be further cared for.
