The East Tennessee State University-led Tennessee Climate Office is preparing to ramp up collaborative research efforts to better prepare local communities for extreme weather changes and events like Hurricane Helene, according to Dr. Andrew Joyner, a member of ETSU鈥檚 Department of Geosciences and Tennessee鈥檚 official climatologist.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency announced on June 18 that the massive waterway debris cleanup effort launched by the State of Tennessee in response to Tropical Storm Helene is coming to a close, with nearly 5 million cubic yards of debris collected from affected rivers and lakes across the affected region.
