GATLINBURG — In less than 12 hours, Carlee Cradic had scored eight goals for the Dobyns-Bennett girls soccer team.
Her second four-goal outing clinched the Mount Chapman Division championship in the Smoky Mountain Cup on Saturday night.
Cradic did all the scoring against Karns in a 4-0 win, two of them coming in the first 20 minutes with Hailey Cline assisting the first. After giving D-B a 3-0 lead in the 35th, Cradic found the back of the net again in the 41st on a Kora Houlihan assist for the final count.
D-B outshot the Lady Beavers 17-2 overall and 8-1 on goal, with Kaylee Menya saving Karns’ lone attempt at the net.
After Friday’s 1-1 draw with Rhea County, D-B opened Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Centennial — a match which saw Cradic score four times and assist two other goals.
Cradic broke the scoreless tie on a Houlihan assist before dishing a helper to Eden Cradic in the third minute. Cline’s goal made it 3-0, and Houlihan scored on a Carlee Cradic assist in the 10th for a 4-0 lead right out of the gate.
The Lady Indians led 4-2 at the half, until Carlee Cradic went one-on-one with the keeper in the 44th minute and scored on Houlihan’s second helper. Houlihan assisted her for a third time in the 59th, and Cradic capped the scoring in the 66th.
Menya saved three of Centennial’s five shots on goal to earn the win. D-B held a 22-7 advantage in shots with 16 on goal.
Providence Academy claims Mount Sterling Division
The Lady Knights opened the tournament with an 8-1 victory over Cumberland County, with Lindsay Williams and Linley Carr scoring two goals apiece. Anarose Kozlowski, Bella Caldwell, Addie Clay and Emma Honeycutt did the rest of the scoring for PA. Anna Pope, Lila Caldwell, Bella Caldwell and Honeycutt had one assist each.
PA followed up with a 4-2 victory over Calvary Christian (Ky.) Saturday morning with four different players finding the back of the net. Lindsay Williams (PK), Riley Kate Grant, Addie Clay and Emma Honeycutt did the scoring with Lynlee Carr assisting Grant. Caydee Hogan saved two shots to get the win in goal.
Providence Academy and West Ridge were scheduled to play at 8 p.m. Saturday night, but inclement weather wouldn’t allow it. So the Lady Knights were declared co-champions with Calloway County (Ky.), which had also gone 2-0 in its matches.

JOHNSON CITY — Madi Hatfield served nine aces and tallied 12 digs, helping the Lady Knights take a straight-set win over Happy Valley 25-8, 25-5, 25-11.
Quinn Wells recorded a team-high six kills. Micah Merkel (.500 hitting average) and Myla Johnson (.416 average) both had five kills. Ellie Smith dished out 18 assists, and Ella Grace Burton added five aces.
Providence Academy travels to Tri-Cities Christian Monday, as the Lady Eagles christen their new facility.
Tennessee High wins Platinum Bracket in Knoxville
KNOXVILLE — Tennessee High Volleyball team responded to a shaky match Friday night with three strong performances Saturday to win the Platinum Bracket at the Showdown at the Sunsphere Tournament in Knoxville. THS opened the seeding bracket with a 25-20, 25-16 loss to Beechwood High School from Fort Mitchell, Ky., on Friday night.
Saturday morning the Lady Vikings won their second seeding bracket contest, routing St. Cecelia Academy of Nashville 25-17, 25-8. Those results placed the Lady Vikings in the Platinum Bracket semifinals where they spanked Knox Halls 25-17, 25-7. In the championship match, Ashton Blair led a THS rally after a tough first set to take home the hardware 14-25, 25-19, 15-13. The senior outside hitter put up a double-double with 15 kills, including the match clincher on a fake-out tip, and 10 digs.
On the weekend, Blair totaled 31 kills, 23 digs, and five aces. Faith Hayes added 21 kills and five blocks. Libby Boyles knocked down 12 kills along with six blocks, Skyler Hoffman had 11 kills and Karah Smith slammed nine kills with five blocks. Bree Adams passed out 44 assists with 19 digs and Emily Curtin added 22 assists. Addy Gentry picked up 35 digs and Camden Ward chased down 20.
