BLOUNTVILLE — No one hit double figures in any statistical category, but the West Ridge volleyball team made the most of their team effort Thursday night.
The Lady Wolves won their Big East Conference opener in straight sets over David Crockett 25-18, 25-12, 25-15 at the Evelyn Rafalowski Athletic Complex.
Aylin Ballard came the closest in kills with six of them, followed by Nila Horne with five and Anna Thurman with four. Myra Copas dished out a team-high eight assists, and Kami Clark blocked a pair of attacks.
Zyleigh Bates came the closest to double figures, posting a team-high nine digs. Horne added six, and Morgan Lambert five. As a team, West Ridge served 14 aces, with Clark recording six and Lambert adding four.
Tennessee High 3, Daniel Boone 0
GRAY — Tennessee High jumped ahead 11-0 in the opening set and cruised to a straight-set win at Daniel Boone 25-6, 25-8, 25-14 to start Big East Conference play.
Faith Hayes slammed 10 kills and Ashton Blair added eight for the Lady Vikings. Karah Smith and Libby Boyles dominated at the net, Smith recording six kills and five blocks while Boyles added five kills and four blocks. Bree Adams handed out 15 assists with nine digs, and Addy Gentry tallied 16 digs.
Lilly Fleenor and Sidney Kestner had three kills apiece for Boone, which got seven assists from Cambree Kite and 11 digs from Evie Byrd.
Elizabethton 3, Unicoi County 1
ERWIN — Defending Upper Lakes Conference champion Elizabethton opened district play victorious against Unicoi County, winning in four sets 25-12, 24-26, 25-16, 26-24. Stats weren’t available at press time.
Layla Peterson led Unicoi County with 11 kills, and Cadence Oaks dished out 24 assists.
